Playing make believe is an important part of the daily routine for children in care at Fremont Kid's Academy. Using their imaginations helps toddlers to expand their brain capacity and increase cognitive functions. We recently added a new play structure to the outdoor environment and today the children were pretending to save each other like fire fighters. What a wonderful way to solidify the relationships between each other...pretending to save a friend is just as powerful as the real act.

Having mixed ages in a childcare sometimes presents challenges but more often than not provides meaningful experiences for everyone. Older children reaching down to help their younger friends encourages love in the hearts of both children.

Learning to walk can be so much fun when the other children in childcare help show the way. Pre-walkers get to practice their surfing skills and a friend gets a push.

Children are not the only things growing at Fremont Kid's Academy. A week ago the children planted a variety of seeds for the garden. Each day they carefully water the containers and check on any growth.

Discovering sprouted seeds is just one of the amazing experiences they have had this week. They have observed that pole beans grow the fastest and noted that carrots and tomatoes tend to be a little more shy. The children see the sprouts and then run around the house clapping and yelling "it's growing, it's growing!"
