Shapes in childcare at Fremont Kid's Academy
Childcare at Fremont Kid's Academy consists of more than just basic baby sitting. We teach children our kindergarten readiness program through play, art, music, and fun.

This project teaches shapes with contact paper on poster board. The children help cut out shapes of contact paper and stick them to the poster board.  Then they color the whole thing with crayons or markers and peel off the contact paper to reveal the shapes. Clean, easy, fun and educational.

cleaning at Fremont Kid's Academy
Children enrolled in childcare at Fremont Kid's Academy have an opportunity to learn academic skills as well as life skills. Here, they are learning to keep their environment clean by wiping down daily items like door handles, books, and toys. They have a great time learning to care for themselves and each other.

Self feeding is lots of fun for babies at Fremont Kid's Academy. We provide safe, healthy, and yummy foods like pasta, bread, cheese, and fruit. We help with the learning process while giving plenty of opportunities to practice feeding themselves.

Counting With Fingers

Fremont Kid's Academy finger counting
Fremont Kid's Academy borrows a lot of our teaching methods from the Fremont Unified School District. In kindergarten, children are encouraged to use their finger to touch each item in a group that they are counting.

Here you can see a student in childcare at Fremont Kid's Academy using his finger to touch each ball on the page. By taking the time to touch each item, he learns to say a number for each one instead of just counting as high as he can. Counting a group of twenty is a big job for any preschooler and isn't expected until the end of kindergarten.

Sight Words

Fremont Unified School District has a list of sight words that it expects kindergarteners to know by the end of their first year in school. These are the words that they expect children to recongize on sight without having to sound out the word.

Fremont Kids's Academy teaches our students these words everyday. A great way to incorporate these words into your daily routine is to choose a sight word, read a book to your child and have them identify it every time they hear or see it on the page.

Here's the most recent list of sight words:
the, is, a, here, small,
have, and, I, see, big,
we, he, an, she, like,
do, what, has, not, this,
in, you, on, it, can,
no, go, too, up, who,
are, at, down, for, play,
my, look, to, with, where,
said, was, and, little
