Exploring their world is what children do best. At Fremont Kid's Academy we encourage the children in our care to be experimenters, learners, and tinkerers. We infuse Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math into our daily curriculum.

Fine motor skills such as writing take years of practice to master. At Fremont Kid's Academy, we encourage children to use writing instruments as much as possible.
Making marks on a paper is incredibly important for coordinating the hand with the eye, and it's a lot of fun too. Children at Fremont Kid's Academy have lots of opportunities to practice their gross motor skills. Choosing a ride on toy is a perfect way to coordinate a whole body movement and also helps a child to work through spatial relationships and navigating obstacles. We have many ride on toys available for the children in our care to choose and share.
Preschool is full of playing, learning, healthy food, friends and fun, but there's a time when the action must slow down and the children must rest. Preparing for nap time is a soft and sweet time of day when each child at Fremont Kid's Academy settles down and heads to their beds. We support the children in our care to self sooth and fall asleep gently. When nap time is over, it's back to activities and curriculum once again.
Practicing colors and letters is combined in this activity...here, a child is working on filling each lettered shape with the corresponding color to make a fun picture. These types of activities create a foundation for the children in care at Fremont Kid's Academy that will prepare them for kindergarten and beyond.
Even if it's raining, the children in care at Fremont Kid's Academy get to go outside under our covered play area. It's important that children get physical activity every day and having a place to go outside even in imperfect weather is key to maintaining that level. Climbing, running, jumping, and blowing off steam keeps things running smoothly.
Even though we had some much needed rain today, Fremont Kid's Academy is celebrating spring by creating our very own blossoming trees. From cutting out the tree branches to pasting the blossoms onto the trees, the children in our preschool program practiced multiple kindergarten skills. Even the youngest children got a chance to attach their blossoms.
The children at Fremont Kid's Academy have been working on a project that is based on the subjects in the STE(A)M curriculum. We have been using Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math as tools to make activities fun and educational.
We have created a stick mobile by first collecting sticks outside (science), counting them (math), painting them (art), sorting them and photographing them (technology), and building a mobile (engineering) with them. The end result is project that the children enjoyed, and the parents get to display. Continuing with our stick project, the children are sorting the sticks they collected and painted, by size.
We are learning about measurement and size differences at Fremont Kid's Academy. Each of these sticks will be used in an art project. Earlier today the children at Fremont Kid's Academy collected sticks to use in a lesson. We are now painting the sticks and we will be using them in a STE(A)M project. STE(A)M is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, (Art), and Math. We are focusing on those subjects in a lesson about nature, counting, sorting and art. Check back soon to see what we will do next.
Children love to collect sticks and at Fremont Kid's Academy we are using that fascination to inspire learning. From following directions, to measuring, to sorting by size, to counting, we are using these sticks to cover a myriad of subjects. Stay tuned for more activities with our collected sticks.
Learning to be little scientists at Fremont Kid's Academy includes observing nature.
Today we are collecting leaves, observing their veins and making prints in paper. The beautiful product is a piece of natural art. This process of combining Science and Art is an example of STE(A)M curriculum in action. Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math curriculum helps the children in our care learn to observe and interact with their world. Cooperation is a skill that all children will need as they enter kindergarten. At Fremont Kid's Academy we work with our students to help them practice working with each other in a cooperative way.
Building together is a perfect way to encourage collaboration as well as friendship. All children learn the same basic concepts in a preschool environment. They all learn their shapes, letters, numbers, colors and so on, but at Fremont Kid's Academy we have adopted the Reggio Emilia style of teaching that centers the lesson on each child's interests and personality.
We observe each child closely to determine what will inspire the most engaged learning from that student. For example, if we are teaching the letter A to our preschoolers, we will carefully plan to incorporate objects that interest each student that begin with A. If a child loves fruit, we will use apples, apricots, and avocados, as examples of objects beginning with A. We would use a completely different list for a different child. The most important aspect of this type of teaching is the relationship between the child and the care giver. We must know the children in our care well enough to be aware of what motivates them. Recognizing patterns comes easier as children practice and mature. The importance of patterns is evident across subjects such as science, English, and math and can be used as building blocks for many other subjects as well.
A great way to practice patterns is by stringing beads. You can play this game at home as well with buttons, beads, or jewelry. Create a pattern and have your child copy it. Playing dancing games like ring around the rosy teach directions, memory from the songs, gross motor skills, and sequencing from the movements of the dance. Social interaction with peers and teachers is another benefit of these types of games. The children at Fremont Kid's Academy love singing and dancing and playing with each other.
Children love to make Mother's Day cards for their Moms and Moms love to get them. These cards have a very special hand print inside of each child. Fremont Kid's Academy wishes all of ours Mothers a wonderful day!
At Fremont Kid's Academy we are fortunate enough to participate in many of the milestones that children reach as they grow through their first year.
From rolling over, to sitting up, to crawling, we are so happy to be able to witness these moments with the children in our care. Fremont Kid's Academy is now enrolling for Summer childcare. We still have openings for our toddler and infant programs and would be happy to set up a tour of our home for you. Give us a call at 925 321 1232 to schedule a time to visit us.
We offer a nurturing home environment with lots of loving staff, an engaging preschool curriculum geared toward preparing our students for kindergarten, and a robust parent communication plan including webcams, daily reports, and personal communication. We are able to offer the best of both the family care tradition and the child care center tradition to ensure that all the children in our care receive the very best. The abacus has been used to teach counting for thousands of years and children still love it today. For more than just math, it's a tool to teach sorting, grouping, and it's fun.
Choosing a childcare solution for your child can be stressful and confusing. It's most important that your child be cared for as if they were family.
At Fremont Kid's Academy the families that place children in our care quickly become our extended family. Each child gains a while new set of extended siblings and care providers. We also provide a set of curriculum that prepares them for Kindergarten but what is most important to each child is the sense of community they feel while in our care. Building with blocks can be just building with blocks, or it can take a much more creative turn when the blocks magically turn into a pogo stick.
Fremont Kid's Academy teaches our preschool students the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) subjects, but we also include the Arts in a way that allows each child to think outside of the box and be creative. Using the STE(A)M approach in our lessons encourages a level of expression that fully embraces each child's individual contribution. Putting together projects, figuring out puzzles, and having the support to be creative all builds confidence in young learners. At Fremont Kid's Academy, we allow the children in our care to express themselves in many different ways.
From building marble runs to painting and playing with the other children we work to make sure that each child gets the right kind of education for their specific personality type. Being able to do things on their own makes children feel important and grown up. Fremont Kid's Academy encourages the children in our care to take an active role in meeting their needs.
From feeding themselves to cleaning up, all the children are learning to be responsible for themselves and their environment. Math can be fun and yummy! At Fremont Kid's Academy we are working on grouping objects by quantity and what better way to practice than with Cheerios?
Using food as a manipulative helps to keep the interest of the children and doubles as a healthy snack. |
